We had such a fabulous time mixing and mingling with you ladies at the G.L.O.C. Mixer at The PIT on Saturday in NYC. We asked you to send in your favorite moments from the day and here’s what you had to say.

“I loved talking about what it’s like to be a witch in the green room with Sara Schaefer, Kara Klenk and Carmen Lynch. I had never been invited to a mixer before, and it was a wonderful time! I love women. I love Glennis.”

“I’m a Philadelphia stand-up so I can’t help but think of the ladies of the New York comedy scene as somewhat of role models. Of course I love our scene in Philly and I have no doubt that in few year’s time G.L.O.C. will be considering hosting a mixer in the city of Brotherly Love, but going to the ‘big city’ always injects a bolt of electricity into me.

When we arrived at The People’s Improv Theater we were greeted by the lovely Glennis McCarthy. She was wearing hot pink stockings, had her hair in a posh swoop, and if she told me she was the sixth Spice Girl, I wouldn’t have questioned her for a second. From the start I felt a genuine friendly presence throughout the theater and even more exciting was the nametags! I am terrible at remembering names so I’m a huge advocate of nametags. Put it on your shirt, pants, cleverly place over you boobs, draw a smiley face, I don’t care. Nametags are a beautiful thing and make Facebook and Twitter stalking so much easier.

This mixer had all my favorites. A neverending comedy show upstairs, open mic and improv jams downstairs, extremely alcoholic drinks and holy crap – crafts! If I’m not writing jokes I’m obsessing over Etsy or working on my scrapbook. Yes! I am an AC Moore frequent shopper! And yes! I will be hunting down the photographer that was taking pictures. I have an empty space in my scrapbook and a bottle of Modge Podge waiting.

I think my favorite part of the afternoon was the Improv Jam hosted by NULIG. I am not an improviser. Up until last year I thought Drew Carey invented improv and Plinko. I’m intrigued by the different forms, different relationships, and the impenetrable bubble of positivty improvisers bring to the stage. The jam was unlike any improv show I’ve ever seen. Ladies, some who just met, went on stage and created these characters and scenes that were real, believable, and funny! For those of you that participated or witnessed the final scene of the Women’s Drum Circle/Music/Insane Therapy group know this – I snorted.

The three of us left the mixer a little buzzed, a little tired but really inspired. If it weren’t for our own shows waiting for us back in Philly or the train ride home, where we ended up getting stuck in a parking garage for 45 minutes, we would have set up camp at The Pit. The mixer taught me just as much as you’d hope any workshop or festival could. Maybe I just had to pee but I felt like I had to run home and do my homework.”

“My favorite moment of the GLOC MIxer was watching Sharon Spell‘s set. It occurred to me I haven’t seen her perform much outside of her super fun show, Shrink. She told a very moving story that I could relate to personally while she toed the line of hilarious and heartbreaking. That is my favorite kind of comedy.”

“I’m really glad I got to see Cocoon Central Dance Team. They were really funny and cute and it was a nice change of pace to be part of a show with performers other than stand-ups. I also loved the fact that there was jewelry and fun things for sale. I bought a really cute necklace and ring from Susan [Pickover]. Loved that there was a photographer on site. That made me feel even more fabulous.”

“KUDOS to Glennis for putting together an incredible G.L.O.C. Mixer! I was lucky enough to have performed that day with an improv group that some fabulous ladies and I put together years ago called NULIG (Amey Goerlich, Kate Chamuris, Molly Lloyd, Maggie Carey, Shelly Slocum and Marielena Logsdon). Because we are all so busy with families, career stuff, or have moved to L.A. (Shelly we miss you!), we have not performed lately and what an exciting event to get the ball rolling again. Some of the ladies were not able to be there, so powerhouse funny gal Abra Tabak sat in on the set.

I think two moments of that day stand out to me as my favorites; 1 – Performing with such talented ladies that I respect for an audience filled with other ladies I feel the same way about. 2 – After our show, NULIG hosted an ALL LADY JAM! The amount of support, sense of play and all around fearlessness was palpable. What an incredible day of meeting new people, connecting with old and new friends, and making each other laugh at the same time. Thank you Glennis for bringing this community together and looking forward to the next one.”

“The G.L.O.C. Mixer this past Saturday had everything I love: gorgeous and funny ladies, great music, old and new friends, free admision and a kick ass grilled cheese sandwhich. I was selling my handmade jewelery and baby clothes in the lobby and although I wish I had more time to watch the shows we had all sorts of fun in the lobby. The music was jammin’ and there was never a lack of amazing people stopping by. One great moment was a conversation I had with a newbie in the improv world. I recognized the baby deer look on her face and indeed she had just finished level one at the PIT. It was a great reminder to me that there are amazing, funny and impressive woman of all ages and experiences around me. Can’t wait for the next mixer!”

Highlights were being able to see Kambri Crews and have her sign my book which I bought with my card on her PHONE! Super cool. “The G.L.O.C. Mixer was filled with art, fashion and of course plenty of HILARIOUS Ladies. Livia Scott–kicked ass and was a promise keeper Saturday as she “Didn’t Bomb” but in fact blew up the room with her energy. Mary Grill dripped funny from every one of her perfect pores as a nightmare date. And of course seeing Amy Albert grinding the air in sexy black heels and a leotard is enough to make anyone come out on a Saturday afternoon.”
